Inspirations for Week of Aug. 17th - 23rd, 2008

Inspiration for this Week (along with a movie review! HA Ha): by S.L. Jones - © 08-17-08

What is love? As I watched my favorite movie, (The Notebook) with my son last night, he asked me the question…What is love! I think this has to be the hardest question to try to answer, because love comes in so many different forms. But as we sat and watched, it was revealed to us in very subtle ways. You have young love, which is the “fun love” the attraction, the passion, etc. Which every one thinks of as “Real love”, yet she got to find that twice, with two different people! You had the steady love, where even though she was no longer with him, he never stopped loving her. You had the unselfish love, where even though both men loved her… They chose not to fight each other; but truly and sincerely wanted her to be happy and both were willing to let her go, in order for her to find her happiness. You also had forgiveness of love, because he was willing to forgive her for being unfaithful to him, even though they were engaged. You had selfish love, by her mother thinking she knew what was best for her daughter and holding back all of the love letters that were sent. Then you had recognition of love by her mother finally showing her feelings and revealing to her daughter her own secret love and returning the letters. Then you had self-love, by her finally giving in to what really did make her happy, instead of doing what everyone else expected her to do. And then you had devotion of love where he chose never to leave her side and make her as comfortable as possible, and finally you had divine love, which involved God “well Doc, you have Dr.’s & medicine and then there’s God……” And then you had the miracles of love by with his belief, he could make her come back to him and then in the end God let them go together… So what is love? So after the movie my response to my son was, it is everything! It is a combination of it all…. It’s part of life! It’s all of life, loving life, loving yourself, loving others, letting go of wants, offering happiness to others, giving freedom to others, giving laughter to others, etc. As far as a mate, I want to love them full heartedly! I want to appreciate them for them and I want to be appreciated for me. In this movie Neither man wanted to change her, convince her, fight for her, yet they did all of these things by loving her unconditionally by letting her go. Which in reality is the best thing that could have happened to her, because it forced her to find love for herself, within herself as she was always trying to please everyone else! And she finally had to make that decision as to what truly made her happy! And to me that’s what’s most important. To find that self love – what makes you happy, what drives you, what are your own passions. In the end, it wasn’t the men in her life, or her mother who had to make her happy, they were just props! She had to make the final decision as to what and who made her the happiest! This movie is a great resource for undertanding and viewng love on all levels… I guess that’s why I love it so much.

So this week love yourself, open up the possibilities of letting love in. Let go of past fears, hurts, anger. Forgive others, and yourself and re-discover who you are…. Just like Allie did in the movie. A mate will come only when you recognize the love you feel for yourself. Your wants, your needs, how are you being fulfilled, within yourself? If you don’t, no other person will be able to find it for you, or tell you how to get it. No matter how many relationships you go through! And those who truly love you, whether it be family members, a lover whom your with now, a past relationship, friendships, those who truly love you, will still be standing by your side, whether you are with them or not… Hoping you will find your-own love and happiness. So set out this week on a journey to love-yourself…….. And by doing that you will never feel unloved again, because in reality, you should be your true love here on this earth. And then God will love you even more by sending you someone to share “your-own” love with. Remember love is not an outside thing so don’t look outside to find it. It comes from with-in. And you find it (true love), only by sharing from the inside out…..

This Weeks Prayer: Lead by Rev. Sharon L. Jones
Dear God:
This week look over us by offering us ways to re-discover ourselves. By being patient with us and letting us be patient with ourselves. This past week presented many obstacles for many of us, I have come across so many people, who are so lonely, hurt, fearful, willing to blame others for their unhappiness. God please forgive us…Again! I know we all keep trying to find ourselves, to be kind and good and helpful. But some days it just seems so hard, so useless! In those times God, when we feel so discouraged. Please, please, please help us to quite ourselves and our tongues and let you in! Let us not be caught up in all the drama and self- destructive thoughts, that can run through our human minds and try to destroy the positive things you have shown us. Let us walk in your light, in your glory… Love us like no other God, because we are trying. Present us this week with situations and people, who can make a positive difference in our lives, who will love us unconditionally like you do God…… And let us know and remember you are here guiding us, helping us. And let us not be afraid to ask you for help! It says if you ask it shall be given, so with your words God. Please don’t let us forget to ask and know it’s ok to do so. Let us smile and laugh and offer all that is good within us to the rest of the world…… We love you God! And we thank you so much for always being here for us to talk to………Amen

Tarot Card for the Week: Six of Swords (reversed)
This card in reverse represents lack of movement, you are trying to move forward, but there is still blockage. You feel you are paddling so hard but you’re getting nowhere. If you want things to change so you can move forward, you must deal with things, emotions, fear, anger, etc. They can no longer just be swept under the rug where you can pretend they don’t exists. They must be dealt with for you to move forward. You must change the way “you” view or react to situations in your life. It’s like fishing, once you have thrown your line out and you come up with moss, you must remove the moss in order for the fish to find your line! Then you can catch the fish, which in turn, will then feed your family and sustain its health and growth. So take a look again, learn to love your-self. Don’t be afraid to face your fears. Only by facing them can they be removed which in turn gives you a place to replace fear with peace and happiness. If your shelves are lined with only fear, anger, resentment, etc. then you have no place to put what you truly desire and move forward, because you haven’t cleared the space to let it in.

Wisdom From the Bhagavad-Gita: This Week's Quote (Chapter 2-66)
One who is not in transcendental consciousness can have neither controlled mind nor steady intelligence, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?
